As one of the most famous houses of the Spanish tradition, the origins of the Vienna chaplains goes back to the year of 1873, in which industrialist Matías Lacasa decided to introduce to the world of bakery in Madrid, a new type of bread that had arrived to the Universal Exhibition in Vienna in 1871: the so called bread of Vienna, which was patented and manufactured by him exclusively for ten years. The first bakery was located in the old House of Chaplains, alongside the convent of the Descalzas Reales de Madrid, where the Vienna Chaplains arose from. To this day, Vienna has diversified and in each one of the multiple spaces distributed to throughout Madrid, you can enjoy a complete gastronomic offer, form morning to night. Vienna is the perfect place if you want to take with you a tasty bocadillo to-go, both healthy and affordable, with the flavors of Spanish and Mediterranean cuisines. But the best symbol of his identity, has been and without a doubt the act of ‘picking at’ and tasting different appetizers and street foods. Breakfast, lunch, and delicious snacks include a variety of selections of sandwiches, salads, pastries and cakes of all kinds ready for everyone to try between meals by lovers of food and tourist. An authentic temple of gastronomy in Madrid.
